Adult mosaic coaster Workshop.
A taster from our Homemade course. Coasters were made from recycled china, glass and found objects.
Childrens pirates and mermaids drop in event. Children made their own pirate or mermaid inspired outfit.

Bradford on Avon’s Arts Festival. Sep 2010
Children created and decorated a pirate hat or mermaid crown as part of the final splash! They then took part in a piratey themed treasure hunt around Barton Farm country park and were rewarded with a prize from the treasure chest.

Thai Festival June 2010. Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire.
Thai celebration – kids corner. Funky art House ran workshops to create and decorate a traditional Thai mask or headpiece as part of the Thai Festival to raise money for a Thai orphanage. The event attracted over 1,500 people with a very busy kids corner workshop that brought a family feeling to the event and kept the children entertained.

Larkhall Community Festival  May 2010. Bath
Animation Workshop:- This workshop included 8 young members of the Larkhall community ranging from 7-12 years old. The workshop involved Building a set, modelling a background and characters in plactercine, producing a storyboard and a voice over script, working towards using Moviemaker to produce the animation. The animation was then shown at the Larkhall Film Festival.

The Big Draw at Bath Artist Studios with Funky Art House. Oct 2012.
The public took part  in a whole host of drawing delights;- touchy feeley drawing, ‘stick insects’ stick drawing, big doodles on the gallery walls, the handy hand tree, dinner doodles on plates and thumb print creatures!
There was also an exhibition of work created for the big draw at St Saviours School in collaboration with The Holburne Museum. Donations were welcomed for the BAS development fund.

Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic (BAME) Family History Fun Day. Aug 2012.
A local project hoping to promote the history of BAME communities in Wiltshire to everyone through community participation and learning. Chippenham Town Council – carnival mask making drop in workshop.

Give Us A Break. April – Dec 2011
Through the careers centre, banes, careers are given an opportunity to have a well deserved break safe in the knowledge that those they care for are being looked after. Funky Art House has provided workshops to several carears giving them back a bit of ‘me’ time to explore creativity on our ‘Homemade’ adult course. Most careers have attended a 12 week course or more and have given very positive feedback on the therapeutic and relaxing effects of crafting.

The Big Draw. Oct 2011 at Bath Artists Studios. Open to all ages. The Funky Art House team were on hand to help with weird and wonderful drawing tasks from badge making to stick men stick drawing to a height chart with a twist!

School Workshops

Ralph Allen & Norton Hill Secondary Schools – Banes. August 2010
Summer School. Funky Art House with ‘Your Time’ funding ran Summer School workshops for 9+ in two different schools. Workshops included creative clay, weaving and sewing, willow sculpture, Eco bags and kaleidoscopes. Funky Art House worked with up to 400 pupils over the ten days with workshops lasting for 6 hours per day. The workshops gave the opportunity to develop different skills such as team work, construction skills, problem solving and negotiation. The children produced some amazing art work which enabled them to learn completely new skills and have lots of fun along the way.

Swainswick Primary School – Bath. May 2010
Curriculum Enhancement Project . As part of Larkhall festival in Bath Funky Art House worked with years 3 and 4 children to design and create a fantastic funky eco bag to take home. Children explored sea life imagery to create and decorate a canvas bag to use again and again as  their school bag, to hold their football kit or for shopping. Children were encouraged to make connections between environmental issues with using plastic bags and the impact on sea life. The workshop was a great success with a lively discussion on environmental issues and each pupil produced a brilliant piece of useful art.

Seasonal

Easter Events April 2010, 2011, 2102 Alice Park & The Royal Botanical Gardens, Bath.
Funky Art House has run very successful easter events for the past three years. Add some egg-citement to your Easter day by joining in the Easter Egg hunts around the grounds to find the Easter bunnies hidden treats.

Halloween Quest October 2010 – West Barn, Barton Farm Country Park, B.O.A. Witches, Wizzards and monsters: Children made a witches hat or monster mask, went on a ghost hunt, made a magic spell and were rewarded with a special spooky prize.

Secret Garden Quest August 2010 – The Royal Botanical Gardens, Bath.
Children transformed themselves into a sparkling fairy or pixie by making fairy wings and a wand. Next they followed clues to find magic charms hidden around the Botanical Gardens and made a fairy spell to summon the fairies. They were rewared with a special fairy prize.
