Children’s Art Competition 2015: Open Studios, Bath Artists’ Studios

Funky Art House would like to invite you to enter our young artists’ competition to create an imaginative piece of art work that explores the theme ‘Blue’. The theme is open to your interpretation- pattern, sea scapes, abstract ideas, the sky, still life, etc etc.

Entries should be no larger than A4 and can use a range of 2D materials such as pencils, pens, crayons, paint, pastels, printmaking, collage, textiles, embroidery…..

All entries will be displayed as part of the annual ‘Open Studios’ event at Bath Artists’ Studios from the 25th-27th September- a great opportunity for all the young artists’ to show off their creations.

Entries will be judged on originality and creativity with one winner being chosen from each age category: 4-7years, 8-11years & 12-16 years. Each winner will receive art materials as a prize and one overall winner will have their work framed and exhibited alongside professional artists’ work in the curated exhibition ‘Blue’ taking place in the Roper Gallery at Bath Artists’ Studios. The opening of the exhibition will be on Friday 25th September at 6pm and will run over the weekend.

Bath Artists’ Studios ‘Open Studios’ is a fantastic free annual event for all the family. There are over 50 studios to explore with over 60 artists’ working in a wide range of art forms ranging from painting and sculpture to ceramics and jewelry making. There will be live music and a bbq on the opening night and a cafe and free art activities throughout the weekend.

All entries to the art competition will be displayed for many people to see over the open studios weekend. We hope you will be able to come along to see your art work and take part in the free drop in art activities run by Funky Art House on the Saturday and Sunday from 11am – 4pm.

The competition is open to all children aged between 4 and 16 years and is free to enter. Deadline for art entries is Monday 21^st September 2015. Please send entries to Funky Art House, The Old Malthouse, Comfortable Place, Upper Bristol Road, Bath BA1 3AJ. Make sure you enclose a name, age and email address so we can contact winners. Please note a stamped addressed envelope would need to be provided if you would like us to send back your art work.
